Infinitely More Powerful
It was Nelson Mandela’s birthday a few days ago. 90 years old. Wow.
I was reading some of his words today and they are truly soul-stirring. These sentiments are inspiring because they make us face undeniable truth. Truth that transcends political conflict. Truth that ascends beyond human oppression by outside forces. Truth that transcends beyond time periods.
There will never be a day where these words are not true. There will never be a day where these words don’t have the power to inspire great change.
Even if all racial, religious, and political conflict were to be resolved and we were to live in a peaceful society with room and respect for all the world around us… these words would still strike at the core of the seeking mind.
Because as long as we travail on this earth experiencing our mortal lives… there will always be an inner battle with mediocrity. There will always be an inner battle with self doubt. There will always be an inner battle with fear. These words will always be needed.
But for today, when we are surrounded by political, religious, and racial conflict around the globe… these words are needed desperately and must be passed on and acted upon.
In this vein, I share with the world my heartfelt appreciation for Nelson Mandela and the words he said below:
“Our greatest fear is that we are not perfect
Our greatest fear is that we are infinitely powerful
It’s the light, not our shadow, that fears us the most
We ask ourselves: who am I to be brilliant, beautiful, talented, fantastic?
But, who are you to not be just that? You are a child of God.
To act unimportant does not do the world a favor.
There is nothing enlightning about making yourself small so other people won’t be insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine like children.
We are born to reveal the glory of God that is inside us.
That is not just our in some cases: it is in everyone.
And when we let the light shine, we subconsciously permit other people to do the same.
When we are freed from our fear, our presence automatically frees other.”
